Kara Spierings

Psychologist

Kara is a registered psychologist who is deeply passionate about supporting mental health and helping people make sense of their experiences and inner world. She supports clients in a collaborative and compassionate way, creating space to explore thoughts, emotions, and life experiences at a pace that feels comfortable.

Kara works with children, adolescents, their parents and families, as well as young adults. She takes a holistic, strengths-based approach, recognising that each life stage brings its own unique challenges while also honouring the individual capacities, interests, and resilience of each person. By understanding an individual’s inner world, relationships, and environment, she supports people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions and stressful events. She has also spent many years working with neurodivergent individuals, embracing differences, building on strengths, and supporting them to navigate challenges in ways that are empowering and affirming.

Kara has experience working across a range of community mental health services as well as private practice settings, which has shaped a flexible and compassionate approach to care.

Her work is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and she has recently completed training in EMDR to support clients in processing difficult or overwhelming experiences. She integrates these approaches in a gentle and thoughtful way, supporting clients to build resilience, strengthen emotional awareness, and reconnect with what matters most to them. Kara is committed to helping people feel less alone in what they are carrying and to supporting meaningful, lasting change through understanding, compassion, and connection.
